Handicraft Felt

AF-Craft Felt.

Our craft felt is manufactured using a blend of wool and viscose fibres to produce a thin, stable felt at approximately 1mm.

Our craft felt is offered at 1830mm (72”) wide on rolls in a generous range of colours.

FT-Coloured felt.

Manufactured from 100% merino wool, this is a high-quality plush fabric used generally in the manufacture of high end/collector toys and in art installations & wall coverings.

Generally, 1.2-1.5mm thick and available on rolls at 1600mm wide in a limited colour range.

General Characteristics

Smooth soft to touch surface.
Compressible and conformable.
High drape characteristics.
Will readily absorb liquids.
Displays around 25% stretch.
Operational within a temperature range of -20 to +100 Celsius
Low surface tension means poor resistance to friction/rubbing.
Manufactured to conform to EN71-Pt 2 for toy manufacture safety.
Good resistance to UV light and Ozone.
Not washable.

Fabricating methods

AF Craft Felt & FT-Coloured felt can be slit, die-cut, knife and scissor cut, laminated with adhesive backings and kiss-cut in a myriad of different designs and shapes easily with non-fraying edges.

Dimensions

AF-Craft Felt is 1830mm (72”) wide and 1mm thick.

FT-Coloured felt is 1600mm (63”) wide and generally 1.2-1.5mm thick.

Additional information

AF-Craft felt contains a minimum of 35% wool and 65% viscose.

AF-Craft felt is manufactured to a weight of 250gmms per linear metre (139gmms per square metre)

FT-Coloured felt contains a minimum of 100% wool.

FT-Coloured felt is manufactured to a weight of 400gmms per linear metre (250gmms per square metre)

AF-Craft felt and FT-Coloured felt are Pressed felts, and as such have no warp or weft construction enabling them to be cut and sewn in any direction without fraying or unravelling.

These felts can only be dry-cleaned and should not be washed or tumble dried if they become wet.
