What is Kiss Cutting?

Kiss cutting is a converting process that cuts through the material layer without cutting through the release liner beneath it. This creates individual parts that can be easily removed from the liner while maintaining the integrity of the backing sheet.

The process is ideal for:

  • Self-adhesive tapes
  • Foam gaskets and seals
  • Felt pads and washers
  • Protective films
  • Insulation materials
  • Medical and technical adhesive products
  • Packaging and labelling applications

Benefits of Flatbed Kiss Cutting

Precision and Accuracy

Flatbed kiss cutting delivers clean, accurate cuts for both simple and intricate component designs.

Easy Application

Parts remain on the release liner, allowing quick and efficient removal during assembly.

Reduced Waste

Optimised nesting of components helps minimise material waste and improve cost efficiency.

Flexible Production

Suitable for prototypes, low-volume production runs, and larger manufacturing requirements.

Wide Material Compatibility

Capable of processing a wide variety of adhesive-backed materials, including technical felts, foams, fabrics, tapes, films, and laminates.

Materials We Convert

British Felt Co. has extensive experience converting a broad range of materials, including:

  • Polyester felt
  • Wool felt
  • Technical nonwovens
  • Closed-cell foams
  • Open-cell foams
  • Double-sided adhesive tapes
  • Protective films
  • Rubber and gasket materials
  • Acoustic and thermal insulation products

If your material requires adhesive lamination before kiss cutting, we can provide a complete converting solution.

Applications

Our flatbed kiss-cut components are used across numerous industries, including:

  • Automotive
  • Electronics
  • Construction
  • HVAC
  • Medical
  • Packaging
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • Point-of-sale displays

Typical applications include gaskets, seals, spacers, anti-rattle pads, protective pads, insulation components, mounting tapes, and custom adhesive parts.
